LAGRANGE, Ga. - Covenant hit the road to LaGrange for its second conference series of the year, looking to win game one under the lights. The Scots were behind for most of the evening, but an offensive outburst late allowed them to earn a close win.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Panthers opened the scoring in the second inning with three runs yielded by an infield error.
- With two outs and the bases loaded, Nate Jones drew a walk to get Covenant on the board.
- The next batter was Roby McClarnon who delivered a 2-RBI double to left-center field to tie the game at three.Â
- LaGrange responded in the fourth inning as a solo home run to left-center field by Curt Bonner put it back in front.
- LaGrange extended its lead to 6-3 in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout and an RBI single.Â
- In the seventh inning, McClarnon came through again for Covenant, this time with an RBI double down the right-field line that scored Hudson Couch.Â
- Later in the frame, another bases-loaded walk, this one drawn by Daniel Bell, made it 6-5.
- LaGrange added a run in the seventh inning with an RBI single.
- Covenant's eighth-inning rally began with Ben Johnson driving in a run on an RBI groundout.Â
- Two batters later and with the bases loaded, Zeke Gilbert hit a 3-RBI double to left-center field that put Covenant on top for the first time all night.
- The next batter was Daniel Ball and he scored Gilbert with an RBI double to make it 10-7.
- The Panthers scored one run in the eighth and ninth innings to get within one, however the tying run was left on third base in the ninth as a pop out to shortstop ended things.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 20-26 all-time against LaGrange.
- RHP Bryce Bollinger (5 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) got the start for Covenant.
- RHP Ethan Goebert (2.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 K, 1 HBP) picked up the win and RHP Jake Schock (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 K) earned the save for Covenant.Â
- McClarnon (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB), Gilbert (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 R), and Bell (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB) each had two hits to lead the Covenant offense.
- LaGrange outhit Covenant 16-9.
- The Panthers had two errors while the Scots had one.Â
