LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant's bats were hot in today's doubleheader against Bob Jones. The Scots combined for 28 runs across two games to complete the three-game sweep of the Bruins.Â
Game 1 Final: Covenant 10, Bob Jones 0

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Thanks to a solo home run to left field by Hudson Couch, the Scots took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
- Later in the frame, Josh McCaskill scored on a wild pitch after reaching base on a double to center field.Â
- The Scots' infield behind RHP Scotty Smith, rolled double plays in both the second and third innings.Â
- Sam Cecil put the score at 3-0 in the third inning with an RBI sacrifice fly to left field that brought home Roby McClarnon.Â
- The Scots led off the fifth inning with back-to-back singles before Ben Johnson brought them home with a three-run home run to left field.Â
- Zeke Gilbert and Daniel Bell scored on an infield throwing error in the sixth inning to make it 8-0.Â
- Elliott Eastin delivered an RBI single later in the frame before a throwing error on the same play brought home another to put the Scots up 10-0.Â
- Smith retired the Bruins in order in the seventh inning to end the game.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Smith (7 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 5 K, 2 HBP) threw the complete game for the Scots to pick up his third win of the season.
- McCaskill (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 BB) led the Scots in hits with two.
- Covenant outhit Bob Jones 7-3.Â
- The Scots committed no errors while the Bruins had three.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bell gave Covenant a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single to center field that scored McClarnon.Â
- Later in the inning, back-to-back home runs by Covenant with a two-run shot from Cecil, and a solo bomb by Johnson put the Scots up 4-0.Â
- RHP Jonathan Glover pitched two scoreless innings out of the gate for Covenant.
- The Scots added their fifth run in the second inning via an RBI single by Bell that brought home McClarnon.Â
- Bob Jones plated three runs in the third inning with two unearned runs.Â
- Covenant sent 14 batters to the plate in the third inning and scored eight runs to blow open the game at 13-3.
- Gilbert had a solo home run in the big inning and McClarnon had a "little league home run" with a triple that led to him scoring on an errant throw.Â
- Bob Jones added a run in the fourth and fifth innings on a solo home run and an RBI sacrifice fly.Â
- Covenant got back to scoring in the fifth inning as Bell delivered an RBI double before later scoring on a wild pitch to make it 15-5.Â
- Covenant added its last three runs in the sixth inning, with two coming from wild pitches, to extend its lead to 18-5.
- RHP Ethan Goebert retired the side in order in the seventh inning to clinch the run-rule win.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 9-2 all-time against Bob Jones.Â
- Glover (5 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 6 K) earned the win for Covenant with six strikeouts on the day.Â
- Goebert (2 IP, 1 H, 3 K) pitched two scoreless innings in relief.Â
- Bell (3-for-5, 4 RBI, 2 R) led the Covenant offense with three hits while Johnson (2-for-4, 2 R, 1 RBI) tallied two.
- 18 runs in a season-high for Covenant and the most it has scored since a 21-8 win over Johnson in the 2021 season.Â
- Covenant outhit Bob Jones 12-9.
- Covenant's 8-1 record ties the 2011 team for the best nine-game start in school history.
