BEREA, Ky. - Covenant was right back in action Tuesday night on the road at Berea for a doubleheader. The Scots kept their winning ways going, sweeping the Mountaineers to move their win streak to four games.Â
Game 1 Final: Covenant 7, Berea 2
Records: Covenant (3-6), Berea (0-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the third inning, Gracie Lacle scored two runs to open the scoring after reaching on a fielding error.Â
- Later in the frame, Covenant made it 4-0 with Ashyln Gaines delivering a 2- RBI single and Kathleen Carpenter scoring a run on an RBI groundout.Â
- In the fourth inning, Lacle added another run with an RBI groundout that scored Charley Clark.Â
- Berea scored its first run of the game in the fourth inning on a solo home run.Â
- In the seventh inning, Covenant added its final run of the game with an RBI single to center field from Tisha Holland to make it 7-1.Â
- Berea added a second run in its final at bats with an RBI double to left field.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Madison Bowden (7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 K) went the distance to pick up the win for the Scots in the circle.
- Berea outhit Covenant 6-5 while each team had two errors.
- Lacle and Gaines each had two RBIs.Â
Game 2 Final: Covenant 12, Berea 8

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Covenant jumped on Berea with three runs in the first inning, scoring runs off an RBI single from Gaines, a wild pitch, and an RBI groundout by Carpenter.
- Berea was able to get one run back in the bottom of the first inning.Â
- The Scots added three more runs in the second inning to make it 6-1, capped off by another RBI from Carpenter, this one coming on a single through the left side.Â
- In the third inning, Berea scored two runs on a 2-RBI single before making it 6-4 on a RBI single down the right field line.Â
- Gaines blasted her second home run of the year in the fourth inning, this one a two-run shot to center field.Â
- In the fifth inning, the Scots went up 9-4 as Madison Taylor had an RBI single down the left field line.Â
- Berea responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to make it a close game again.Â
- RBIs from Cailey Barnett and Gracie Lacle put the score at 11-7 in the seventh inning.Â
- Covenant added its 12th and final run later on thanks to an infield error.Â
- Berea hit a solo home run in the seventh inning, but it was too little too late.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 17-0 all-time against Berea.
- Lauren Edgar (7 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) picked up her second win of the week in the circle.Â
- Lacle (3-for-5, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Taylor (3-for-4, 2 R, 1 RBI) each had three hits to lead the Covenant offense.Â
- Gaines (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 1 HR, 2 R) and Barnett (2-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI) also had strong days at the plate.Â
- Covenant outhit Berea 13-9.
