LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant played on its home field for the first time in 2025 and welcomed Kentucky Christian for a doubleheader. The Scots held close, but in both games the Knights used a big inning late to earn two wins.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights took the lead in the second inning using an RBI single up the middle.Â
- Ashlyn Gaines led off the bottom of the frame and blasted a solo home run to center field to tie the game.Â
- Both teams rode their pitching for the next three innings as no runs were scored by either team.Â
- KCU opened the sixth inning with a triple and the next batter scored that runner with an RBI single up the middle to move ahead.Â
- With two outs in the seventh inning, Kentucky Christian moved ahead 4-1 thanks to a two-run home run to center field.Â
- The Scots were retired in order in their final at-bats.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Lauren Edgar (7 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) went the distance for Covenant in the circle.
- The Scots were outhit 8-2 while both teams committed one error.Â
- Gaines' home run was the first of her career.Â
- Madison Taylor had Covenant's lone other hit in game one.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A two-out 2-RBI double down the left field line for KCU in the second inning put it in front.Â
- Covenant responded in the bottom of the frame as a 2-RBI double to center field from Kathleen Carpenter tied the game.Â
- The Knights went up 3-2 in the third inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch.Â
- Later in the inning, an RBI single followed by an RBI double made it 5-2.
- Isabella Duran delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning, however Covenant's attempt to score another run on that play ended in a called out play at the plate.Â
- Back-to-back doubles from Helena Nagy and Gaines put the Scots within one run at 5-4 in the fifth inning.Â
- Two batters later, an RBI fielder's choice from Haley Russell tied the game at five.Â
- In the sixth inning, the Knights used a 2-RBI single, and RBI single, an RBI triple, and a double steal to blow open the game at 10-5.Â
- Covenant had one hit in the final two innings. Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 0-2 all-time against Kentucky Christian.
- Madison Bowden (5.1 IP, 11 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 4 BB) was Covenant's starting pitcher in game two.
- Charley Clark (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K) pitched in relief for the Scots.Â
