LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant and Wooster met for two more games today after the Scots took game one on Friday afternoon. Covenant put on an impressive display to take both games and earn a three-game sweep in the second weekend of the season.Â
Final: Covenant 8, Wooster 4

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wooster jumped ahead in the top of the first inning with an RBI groundout to second base.Â
- The lead didn't last long as in Covenant's first at-bats it scored two runs thanks to a 2-RBI single from Ben Johnson that scored Sam Cecil and Daniel Bell.Â
- An RBI double and an RBI groundout for the Fighting Scots in the second inning put them back in front 3-2.Â
- In the bottom of the frame Sam Cecil tied the game with an RBI single that scored Cole Akins.Â
- A pair of RBI doubles from Elliott Eastin and Cole Akins in the third inning made it 5-3.Â
- Later in the inning, Akins scored on a wild pitch to extend Covenant's lead to three runs.Â
- The Scots scored their seventh run of the game in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Eastin that brought home Johnson.Â
- An RBI sacrifice fly by Zeke Gilbert that scored Nate Jones put the Scots in front 8-3 in the fifth inning.Â
- Wooster tallied an unearned run in the ninth inning.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant outhit Wooster 12-7.Â
- RHP Scotty Smith (5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HBP) picked up his second win of the year on the mound.Â
- RHP Ethan Goebert (4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 HBP) was solid in relief for the Scots.Â
- Eastin (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 1 R), Akins (2-for-3, 1 R), and Johnson (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB) led the Covenant offensive attack.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams starting pitchers, RHP Jonathan Glover for Covenant and RHP Dame Frayne for Wooster dealed through the first three innings.Â
- That being said, Covenant tacked on a run in the third inning with an RBI single from Sam Cecil that scored Daniel Bell.Â
- Wooster scored its first run in the fifth inning on an RBI single after having two batters hit earlier in the frame.Â
- Back-to-back RBI singles by Hudson Couch and Eastin in the fifth inning put the Scots ahead 3-1.
- The next batter was Roby McClarnon who proceeded to launch a three-run home run, the first of his young career, to blow open the game.Â
- The Fighting Scots hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to get back within four runs.Â
- Covenant added three insurance runs in the bottom of the frame with Gilbert, Johnson, and Eastin each tallying an RBI.Â
- A couple of Covenant errors led to Wooster another run in the third inning.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 3-0 all-time against the College of Wooster.Â
- The Scots had four players with two or more hits: Bell (2-for-3, 3 R), Gilbert (2-for-5, 1 R, 1 RBI), Cecil (3-for-5, 2 R, 1 RBI), and Eastin (2-for-5, 2 RBI, 1 R).
- Glover (6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 8 k, 2 HBP) picked up the win for Covenant after a strong outing.Â
- RHP Zach Barrett (3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 K) pitched the final three innings for the Scots.Â
- Covenant outhit Wooster 13-8.
