LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant celebrated Senior Night prior to tip-off Tuesday night against Maryville. In an attempt to give Maryville just its second CCS loss, Covenant fell short after an impressive first-half display by the visitors.Â

FIRST HALF:
- Covenant's first six points were all scored inside as it trailed 7-6 early on.Â
- A 14-0 run for Maryville pushed its lead to 21-6 and resulted in a Covenant timeout.Â
- Covenant continued to work inside as layups by Derrius Teagle and Pierce Smith put the score at 24-12.Â
- Logan Patterson drilled a 3-pointer, but Maryville scored seven consecutive points after that to put the score at 34-15 midway through the half.Â
- The two teams traded baskets and stops for the next four minutes as Jake Stephens scored in the paint to make it 41-22.Â
- Covenant went scoreless for over three minutes before Kaleb Lofton buried a triple to end the drought and put the score at 47-25.
- Patterson scored the final basket of the half, a transition triple as Covenant trailed 49-28 going into the locker room.Â
SECOND HALF:
- Both teams came out hot offensively with Maryville making six shots and Covenant making five shots before the under-16 media timeout.Â
- Patterson then went on an 8-0 run himself with two triples to put Covenant within 15 points before Maryville responded with seven consecutive points.Â
- Just under the 10-minute marker, the lead was still at 21 points after Patterson made two foul shots.Â
- Fisher Mitchell made a pair of triples to get Covenant within 17 points at 82-65.Â
- Once again, Maryville answered, scoring seven of the next nine points, all coming from Reed Kemp to push the lead back to 22 points.Â
- Two baskets in transition for Maryville extended its lead to 97-73 with 3:29 left in the game.Â
- A late 8-0 run by the Scots with three points each from Luuk Dusek and Zak Thomas made it 99-83.
- Maryville scored five points in the final 20 seconds to close out the 107-86 victory.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant moves to 12-40 all-time against Maryville.
- Patterson, going up against his former team, led Covenant with 21 points on five made 3-pointers.Â
- Smith posted a double-double with 12Â points and 11 rebounds while also having three blocks.Â
- Kemp had a game-high 36 points on 14-of-20 shooting for Maryville.Â
- Covenant shot 38.6% (32-83) from the field and was 33.3% (10-30) shooting 3-pointers while Maryville was 54.4% (43-79) and 39.1% (9-23) in the same categories.Â
- Maryville had 32 assists while Covenant had 20.
UP NEXT: Covenant travels to Asbury on Thursday night at 6Â p.m. with the chance to clinch the No. 4 seed in the CCS Tournament with a win.Â
