LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - On Opening Day of the Baseball season, the Scots didn't look rusty at all. Behind an aggressive offensive approach and strong pitching, Covenant cruised to a 12-6 win over Greenville.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Panthers had runners on first and third base with no outs in the first inning, however a thrown out runner stealing second base followed by back-to-back strikeouts from RHP Bryce Bollinger ended the threat.Â
- Covenant scored its first run of the day in the second inning via an RBI sacrifice fly from Elliott Eastin that brought home Hudson Couch.Â
- The Panthers responded in the next frame, tying the game on an RBI single up the middle.Â
- In the third inning, Covenant used five singles to score five runs which put it ahead 6-1. Eastin had the big hit of the inning, a 2-RBI single up the middle with two outs.Â
- An RBI double to left field followed by an infield error gave Greenville two runs in the sixth inning.Â
- In the bottom of the frame, a pair of RBI doubles from Roby McClarnon and Daniel Bell made it 8-3.Â
- The next batter was Zeke Gilbert who delivered an RBI single through the left side to put his team up six runs.Â
- Chris Savage and Ben Johnson both had RBI hits in the seventh before Johnson scored on a wild pitch to put the Scots ahead 12-3.
- A wild pitch that scored a run followed by a 2-RBI double scored three runs for Greenville in the ninth inning.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 4-0 all-time against Greenville.Â
- Gilbert (3-for-5, 1 RBI, 1 R), Cecil (3-for-5, 1 RBI, 2 R), and Johnson (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R) each had strong games offensively for the Scots.Â
- Couch had two hits offensively and threw out two runners stealing second base in the field.Â
- Bollinger (4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) and RHP Ethan Geobert (4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 K) in relief each went four innings for Covenant on the mound.Â
- Covenant outhit Greenville 16-9.Â
- The Scots have won their season-opening game three years in a row.Â
