LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. â Covenant entered its matchup with Maryville aiming to carry over the momentum from the last three games which it was unbeaten. However, the defending CCS champions proved too much, as the Maryville Scots secured a 2-0 victory over the Covenant Scots.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Covenant generated several early scoring chances, including a close-range attempt from Abby Eastes that narrowly missed the left post.Â
- The Scots nearly struck again late in the first half when Adelle Stumbo's effort sailed just off target.Â
- Covenant controlled much of the opening period, doubling Maryville's shot attempts by an 8-4 margin.
- The momentum shifted early in the second half, as 2023 CCS Offensive Player of the Year Hannah Smoot put Maryville ahead in the 48th minute with a powerful strike.Â
- The Maryville Scots extended their lead in the 68th minute when Katie Corley finished off a sequence set up by Avery Brown and Anabelle Proctor.Â
- Covenant pressed for a response, with Georgie Strawbridge testing keeper Kristen Burns, but Maryville held firm to close out a 2-0 victory.
