Covenant Drops Midweek Battle With No. 13 Eagles

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant took on No. 13 Emory looking to earn a ranked victory going into Homecoming weekend. The Scots took the lead, but the Eagles attack proved to be too much to reckon with.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Rachel Wall put Covenant in front in the 11th minute as she followed up a rebound of her initial shot that was blocked off the line by an Emory defender and put the ball in the back of the net. 
  • Wall almost scored another goal in the 19th minute as she raced past two defenders before her shot was saved at full stretch on the top right of the goal. 
  • Covenant keeper Bronwyn Kickasola was busy as she made four saves in the next 15 minutes.
  • In the 33rd minute, Emory thought it tied the match, but a goal was ruled back for offside. 
  • Right before halftime in the 42nd minute, Emory got its equalizer as Kaitlyn Nimmer scored from close range after a pass from Emily Woodall. 
  • At the intermission, the Eagles had outshot the Scots 17-7. 
  • In the 57th minute, Emory was too greedy once again as it had another goal ruled back for offside. 
  • Nimmer scored her second goal and gave the Eagles the lead in the 67th minute as she scored from outside the box after having her first attempt blocked seconds earlier. 
  • In the 71st minute, Emory made it 3-1 as Michelle Davidson headed in a goal off a corner kick from Michelle Davidson. 
  • Nicole Graubard forced a save in the 77th minute after a deep free kick opportunity for the Scots. 

GAME NOTES: 

  • Covenant moves to 0-7 all-time against Emory.
  • Emory outshot Covenant 36-10 and had a 16-6 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • Kickasola tallied 12 saves for a new career high. 
  • Covenant had a higher foul count at 7-5. 

UP NEXT: The Scots take on Huntingdon on Saturday at 5 p.m. for their conference opener on Homecoming.
