SAN ANTONIO, Texas. - Covenant began its weekend with a battle against Eastern. The Eagles took it to the Scots, sweeping them in three sets.Â

Records: Covenant (4-3), Eastern (7-1)
FIRST SET:
- Behind two attack errors and two kills, the Eagles raced out to a 4-0 lead.Â
- Another 4-0 run for Eastern pushed its lead to 11-3.
- Covenant fought back to make it 12-9 on a 5-0 run that included two service aces by Kelsey Carman.
- Three points is as close as Covenant would get the remainder of the set as the Eagles extended their lead and won 25-15.Â
SECOND SET:
- Kills from Carman, Kayley Shanfelt, and Hannah Mathis got Covenant going in set two, but it trailed 6-4.Â
- A 3-0 run capped off by a Cali Sandhoff kill tied the set at nine.Â
- The two teams went back-and-forth as an Eagles attack error kept the set tied at 15.
- Eastern ended the set on a 10-1 run to take the set 25-16.
THIRD SET:Â
- Two of Covenant's first eight points were service aces from Carman and Sarah Jennings, but it was behind 9-8.
- Back-to-back attack errors by Eastern kept Covenant in it 13-11.
- The Scots kept battling as a kill from Scarlett Martz cut the lead to one point at 16-15.Â
- After the Eagles pushed the lead to five points, the Scots went on a 4-0 run with kills from three different players to put the score at 21-20.Â
- Eastern ended the match strong as three points in a row ended the set at 25-21 and the match.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 0-1 all-time against Eastern.
- Sandhoff had a strong game with a double-double tallying 13 digs and 10 assists.Â
- Carman flirted with a double-double, posting nine kills and 10 digs.Â
- Jennings totaled 13 digs for Covenant.
