LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Off and on rain plus cold winds made it a difficult day at the ballpark for both Covenant and MUW. Each team traded games for an offensive explosion as the Scots and Owls both earned a run-rule win.
Game 1 Final: Covenant 14, Miss. University for Women 4
Records: Covenant (5-8), Miss. University for Women (6-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Owls took their first lead of the game in the first inning via a RBI single to center field.
- Kenny Mills tied the game in the bottom of the frame with a RBI sac-fly to center field that scored Harrison Adelgren.
- Cole Evans gave MUW the lead back in the second inning with a solo home run to left field.
- Covenant took the lead for good in the third inning with three runs, highlighted by a RBI single up the middle from Mills that scored Benjamin Johnson.
- In the fourth inning, Johnson crushed a 3-run home run to left field to put the Scots in front 7-2.
- Mills picked up his third RBI of the game later in the frame with a RBI double down the right field line that scored Zach Ferlita.
- Byron Brack got in on the home run party, with a 2-run shot down the right field line for the Owls to make it 8-4.
- A RBI single up the middle by Kolby Kimberly, followed by a bases-loaded walk put the Scots up 10-4 in the sixth inning.
- The next batter was Johnson, who crushed a grand slam to left field to put the run-rule in effect.
GAME NOTES:
- Johnson went 3-for-4 with two homers and tied a school-record in RBIs with seven.
- Covenant had 10 hits while MUW had nine.
- MUW had four errors while Covenant had no errors.
- Mills had a perfect game at the dish going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
- RHP Bryce Bollinger went all six innings to pick up the win (6 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP).
Game 2 Final: Covenant 3, Miss. University for Women 13

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Covenant kept its offensive momentum going from game one early on in game two as Chris Savage knocked a 2-RBI double down the left-field line in the first inning.
- Back-to-back RBI singles for MUW in the second inning tied the game at two.
- Avery Benson hit a 2-run home run to right field to put the Owls up 4-2 in the third inning.
- Later in the third inning, MUW poked a RBI single up the middle to go up three runs.
- Another pair of RBI singles in the fourth inning extended MUW's lead to five runs.
- The Owls hit another home run in the fifth inning, this one from Matthew Windham to go up 8-2.
- After a RBI single to go up 9-2 in the seventh, Covenant committed two errors later in the frame that allowed MUW to take a 13-2 lead.
- Savage delivered his third RBI of the game in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to prevent a run-rule ending.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 2-1 all-time against MUW.
- MUW outhit Covenant 15-8.
- The Scots committed five errors while MUW had one.
- Savage and Mills each had two hits to lead the Scots.
- RHP Scotty Smith took the loss on the mound (2.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 3 HBP).
