Final: Covenant 16, Oglethorpe 15

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Back-to-back RBI singles from Kolby Kimberly and Chase McBryar put the Scots ahead 2-0 in the second inning.
  • Later in the frame, Covenant went up 5-0 thanks to a RBI double down the left-field line by Harrison Adelgren and a RBI single through the right side by Ben Johnson that ended up plating two runs after an outfield error.
  • Five hits and two errors in the third inning saw the game immediately get back tied again.
  • Oglethorpe kept the offensive momentum into the fourth inning as a RBI single and a 2-RBI single put it ahead 8-5.
  • Kenny Mills made it 8-7 with a 2-RBI single to left field in the bottom of the frame.
  • Four unearned runs for the Stormy Petrels saw them push their lead to 12-7 in the sixth inning.
  • A RBI sac-fly to center field extended Oglethorpe's lead to 13-7 in the seventh inning, which was Covenant's largest deficit of the day.
  • Pinch-hitter Josh McCaskill started the rally in the seventh, with a 2-RBI double down the left-field line.
  • The next batter was Adelgren and he followed suit with a 2-RBI double to left-center field.
  • An infield error followed by a RBI sac-fly from Chris Savage tied the game back up at 13.
  • A pair of two-out RBI base hits for Oglethorpe put it back on top 15-13 in the eighth inning.
  • Johnson edged Covenant closer with a RBI single that scored McBryar in the eighth.
  • Trailing by one in the bottom of the ninth inning, Kimberly tied the game up at 15 with a RBI sac-fly to right field.
  • Three batters later with the bases-loaded and one out, McCaskill drew a walk on four pitches to win the game for the Scots.
