KENNESAW, Ga. - After rain washed out Friday's game in Greenville, the Scots and Bruins were forced to move its Saturday doubleheader to North Cobb Christian.
Game 1 Final (7 innings): Covenant 3, Bob Jones 2
Records: Covenant (6-10), Bob Jones (2-13)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Covenant took the lead in the first inning as Sam Cecil drove in a run on a RBI single.
- Bob Jones went ahead in the second inning thanks to a pair of RBIs from Cody Kirkpatrick and Pablo Austin.
- The Scots and Bruins went scoreless for the next three innings.
- With the bases-loaded in the sixth inning, Kolby Kimberly drew a walk to tie the game at two.
- Cecil picked up his second RBI of the day in the seventh inning to drive in what turned out to be the game-winning run.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant outhit Bob Jones 9-6.
- Cecil led the Scots with a 4-for-4 day with two RBIs.
- Kenny Mills also had a strong performance at the plate going 2-for-4.
- RHP Bryce Bollinger threw a complete game to earn the win (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP).
Game 2 Final (7 innings): Covenant 0, Bob Jones 4
Records: Covenant (6-11), Bob Jones (3-13)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bruins opened game two with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Scots threatened to score a few different times, but were unable to bring any runners across home plate.
- Bob Jones added one insurance run in the fifth inning to make it 4-0.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 6-2 all-time against Bob Jones.
- Bob Jones had the slight advantage in hits 7-6.
- Cody Gibson and Kolby Kimberly both went 2-for-3 to lead the Scots offensively.
- RHP Zach Barrett took the loss on the mound for Covenant (5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 2 HBP).
UP NEXT: Covenant takes on Oglethorpe tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. at home.
