MONTGOMERY, Ala. - In a rematch of a game that went down to the final few possessions in January, Covenant traveled to Huntingdon. As they did the first go around, the Scots didn't hit the shots they needed to down the stretch to get the win. Â

FIRST HALF:
- Pierce Smith gave Covenant the early lead at 5-3 with a layup that came off an offensive rebound.
- Smith kept the Scots up two points at 12-10 with a towering dunk.
- With 11:04 remaining, Kinard drilled a 3-pointer to put Covenant ahead 17-15 after Huntingdon had taken the lead.Â
- A layup by Eli Witt started a 7-0 run for Covenant that put it in front 26-20, which turned out to be its biggest lead of the game. Â
- The Hawks responded with a 7-0 run of their own to move back ahead 27-26 at the under-four media timeout.Â
- With 54 seconds left, the Scots took the lead again on a layup by Gus Hood.Â
- Huntingdon scored five points in the final 39 seconds, including two baskets by BJ Brown to go into the locker room up 38-34.
SECOND HALF:
- Two made free throws and a layup all from Smith immediately tied the game back up at 38.
- The Scots and the Hawks continued to go toe-to-toe as a Compere layup kept the Scots within one point at 45-44.
- A 3-pointer from Compere ended an over four-minute drought without a made shot for Covenant, but it only trailed by four points.
- A 14-2 run for Huntingdon stretched its lead to 67-53 with 3:47 remaining.Â
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Fisher Mitchell put Covenant back within six points at 67-61.
- Covenant wouldn't draw any closer as a 6-0 run put the game away for Huntingdon.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant drops to 19-12 all-time against Huntingdon.
- The leading scorer for Covenant was Kinard with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.Â
- Compere with 11 points and Smith with 10 points were the two other players in double-figures for the Scots.
- Covenant shot 37.3% (22-59) from the field while Huntingdon was 45.6% (26-57) shooting.
- Huntingdon had a significant edge in bench points at 50-26, led by Nate Johns who dropped 35 points on 15-of-18 shooting.
