ROSSVILLE, Ga. - Covenant and Alma battled on Saturday morning at Ridgeland High School in the rubber match of the opening weekend series. A five-run seventh inning for Alma was too much for Covenant to recover from as it fell 11-6.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Alma took a 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a pair of RBI singles to center field. The second run was unearned after an outfield error earlier in the frame.Â
- Kolby Kimberly delivered a 2-out RBI single to right-center field in the second inning to get Covenant on the scoreboard.Â
- Four hits in the fifth inning for Alma, highlighted by a 2-RBI double down the right-field line from Collin Czajkowski, led to it taking a 5-1 lead.Â
- Covenant earned its second run of the day in the sixth inning via a RBI double down the left-field line by Benjamin Johnson.
- Covenant tacked on two more runs in the sixth with a RBI groundout by Johnson and a RBI infield-single from Kolby Kimberly.Â
- Alma broke the game open with five runs in the seventh inning with the help of three hits. three walks, and one hit batter from the Covenant pitching staff.Â
- Alma scored its 11th and final run of the game in the eighth inning on a RBI single from Dalton D'Alexander.Â
- Zeke Gilbert poked a RBI single to left field in the ninth, but it was too little too late for the Scots.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 1-2 all-time against Alma.Â
- Hits were in favor of Alma 14-12.
- Harrison Adelgren delivered three hits while Johnson, and Kimberly each had two hits.Â
- In his first start of the year, Zach Tolleson's final line was: (5 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER. 5 K, 3 HBP).
- Darren Zhang recorded four outs without any damage done (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 HBP).
