JACKSON, Miss. - Covenant returned to Choctaw Trails on Saturday for the NCAA Division III South Regional Championship just two weeks after the Men's team won the Conference and the Women's team placed second.Â
Going up against a bigger and stronger field the Scots gave it their best effort as the Men's team placed 12th while the Women's team earned 16th. 12th is the best result at Regionals for the Men's squad since 2019. It also is the first time in school history for Men's Cross Country that Covenant has had three runners finish in the top 50.
MEN'S RESULTS
- Daniel Bowles was the top Covenant runner placing 36th with a time of 26:24. This set a new personal record for the junior.
- Finishing 42nd with a time of 26:46.03 was Ethan Saiki. This time was another personal record for the Scots.Â
- Josiah Mellott closed his senior campaign with a time of 27:03.25 to finish 48th.Â
- The next Covenant runner to finish was Samuel Harrleson who finished the 8k in 28:33.21 to place 93rd.
- Troy Daniel posted a time of 28:47.03 to place 102nd. The result marks a six-second improvement from two weeks ago.Â
- Chandler Lines placed 113th with a time of 29:20.28.
- The final Covenant runner to compete was John Purtill who placed 125th with a time of 30:23.09.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Emerson Tillery led the charge for the Scots with a time of 24:02.80 to finish 49th. This was a 13-second improvement from the CCS Championship meet.
- Posting a time of 25:35.25 and finishing 94th was Evangelia Berry in the final meet of her sophomore year.
- Just behind Berry was Lydia Moore, recording a time of 25:36.72 to finish 97th. This was her second-best 6k time of the fall.Â
- Greta McLean was the next Scots runner to finish, placing 111th with a time of 26:27.30.
- Finishing with a time of 26:40.11 and in 115th place was Claire Mellott. This was the best time of the fall for the sophomore.
- Kenzi Stapleton ended her freshman campaign with a time of 28:15.17 to place 140th.
- Kali Hina rounded out the Covenant lineup with a time of 29:25.10 and a 151st-place result.Â
