WILMORE, K.Y. - Covenant took on Maryville looking to avenge two earlier losses from earlier this season. In the third battle between the two teams, Covenant won the one that mattered most to clinch its spot in the CCS Championship match.Ā

FIRST SET:
- Covenant came out aggressive scoring seven of the first eight points.Ā
- Maryville slowly battled back as a 5-0 run cut the lead to one before the set was eventually tied at 15.
- A couple of attack errors by Covenant put it on the brink of losing the set.
- It was a kill by Cailin Mastropasqua that gave Maryville it's only set win, a 25-20 result.Ā
SECOND SET:
- Covenant responded by scoring the first four points of the set, started by a kill from Hannah Mathis.Ā
- The Scots continued to extend their lead as a pair of attack errors by Maryville made it 13-7.Ā
- Maryville got as close as three points, but consecutive kills from Cali Sandhoff and Mathis closed the deal for Covenant at 25-18
THIRD SET:Ā
- This set started back-and-forth as the two teams were dead-locked at 11.
- A 3-0 Covenant run capped off by another Mathis kill drew some separation at 15-12.
- Maryville didn't back down as it slowly battled back again as the set was tied at 22.
- Two kills by Kelsey Carman and an attack error by Maryville ended the set at 25-22 in Covenant's favor.Ā
FOURTH SET:
- The Scots kept their momentum going as they raced out to a 6-1 lead.Ā
- Maryville used a 3-0 run later in the set to tie it back up at 13.
- Three consecutive attack errors by Maryville put Covenant up 16-13.
- Covenant didn't give the lead back as a kill from Sandhoff ended the set at 25-18 and the match.Ā
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 17-33 all-time against Maryville.
- Mathis had a standout performance with 17 kills and five total blocks.
- Sandhoff also brought her "A" game with her second triple-double of the year, posting 19 assists, 13 digs, and 11 kills.Ā
- Carman was also in double-figures offensively with 11 kills and nine digs.Ā
- Sarah Jenninggs led the Scots in digs with 24 and also reached 1,000 career digs during the match.Ā
