MARYVILLE, Tenn. - After having 12 days off since its last game, Covenant visited Maryville to resume conference play. The Scots struggled in the first half, as they were defeated 77-55.

FIRST HALF:
- Jesse Kinard scored on Covenant's opening possession to give it the early lead.
- Aided by a triple and a breakaway dunk, Maryville went in front 7-4.
- Covenant kept battling as an inside basket from Pierce Smith kept it within striking distance at 13-9.
- Maryville's lead reached double-digits at 21-11 as Reed Kemp scored on consecutive possessions.
- A 7-0 run for Maryville pushed its lead to 28-13 with 7:42 remaining.
- Jonathan Gernatt knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to get Covenant within nine points at 30-21.
- Maryville responded with another run, this one a 16-2 run over four minutes to move ahead 46-23.
- Luke Crowden hit a triple in the final minute, but Covenant trailed 48-28.
SECOND HALF:
- Fisher Mitchell found his shot, knocking down two triples early on to cut the Maryville lead to 50-36 by the first media timeout.
- Maryville answered with a 7-0 run before Gus Hood knocked down a shot and Mitchell drained another 3-pointer.
- Kinard kept the deficit at 16 points with a 3-pointer after Covenant tracked down a couple of offensive rebounds.
- A 9-2 run for Maryville ended any hopes for Covenant to comeback and put it ahead 71-48 with 4:25 remaining.
- Smith and Russell Hunter had Covenant's final baskets of the night.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant drops to 12-37 all-time against Maryville.
- Gernatt scored 14 points to lead Covenant offensively.
- Mitchell and Kinard each had nine points.
- Covenant was 34.9% (22-63) from the field while Maryville was 45.6% (26-57).
- Maryville won the rebound battle 44-32.
- Maryville had a significant edge on the free throw line shooting 80% (16-20) while Covenant was 50% (3-6).
