BUFFALO, Ny. - The Scots played two on Saturday to wrap up its trip to Buffalo. Covenant completed the weekend the right way with straight-set victories over Houghton and Buffalo State.
Game 1 Final: Covenant 3, Houghton 0
Records: Covenant (9-1), Houghton (2-5)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kyla Bailey started the game with two kills on the first two points as the Scots were off and running.
- Later on in the set an 8-1 run gave Covenant an 18-6 advantage.
- Four consecutive attack errors from Houghton ended the set 25-9 in favor of Covenant.
- Set two was closer as kills from Ella Bailey and K. Bailey tied the set at nine.
- The Highlanders kept battling and found themselves with a 18-14 lead in set two. ]
- However, the Scots ended the set on an 11-0 run with Amber Snook serving to take the set 25-18.
- Kills from Reagan Keener, Emma Kalbfleisch, Kinsley Kleinmann, and Cali Sandhoff early in the third third set helped Covenant lead 6-5.
- The set stayed tight at 17-17 as Kalbfleisch had consecutive kills for Covenant.
- A kill from Rachel Bartlett and an attack error from Houghton clinched the set 25-22 and the match for the Scots.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 1-0 all-time against Houghton.
- The 25-9 first set win was Covenant's biggest set victory of the year.
- Kalbfleisch led the Scots with a game-high eight kills.
- Hannah Haerer dominated around the net with a game-high seven blocks.
- Bartlett had a game-high 17 assists and a game-high 12 digs while Snook had 10 assists and eight digs.
Game 2 Final: Covenant 3, Buffalo State 0

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kills from Kalbfleisch, Kelsey Carman, and Haerer helped Covenant burst out to a 9-6 lead.
- A 6-0 run put the set victory in sight with the Scots leading 22-13.
- The set ended 25-16 on a kill from Haerer assisted by Bartlett.
- The Scots had an early cushion at 9-7 in the second set off of kills from Haerer and Carman plus an attack error from the Bengals.
- A couple more attack errors from Buffalo State and a kill from Kalbfleisch extended Covenant's lead to 18-14.
- A 6-0 scoring run with Sarah Jennings serving gave the Scots set two 25-16.
- In set three, Covenant led 6-4 after a service ace from Kalbfleisch.
- The lead moved to 15-8 after a 6-0 scoring run on Barltett's service rotation.
- The final three points were kills from Kalbfleisch and Haerer with an attack error in between as Covenant won 25-12.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 1-0 all-time against Buffalo State.
- Kalbfleisch and Haerer each had 10 kills to lead the team.
- Jennings had four service aces, a new career-high.
- Sandhoff had a career-high seven blocks while Kalbfleisch matched her with seven as well, which ties her personal best.
- Bartlett had game-highs in assists and digs with 31 and 12.
UP NEXT: The Scots began CCS play with a visit to Berea on Thursday. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
