BUFFALO, N.Y. - Covenant traveled to Buffalo for three games before starting CCS play next week. In its first game of the weekend, the Scots took care of business by sweeping Alfred.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alfred held the lead early on in the first set at 7-4 after a quick 6-0 scoring run.
- With the help of a couple of kills from Kelsey Carman, Covenant took back the lead at 9-7.
- Later on in the set kills from Reagan Keener and Carman, plus a service ace from Emma Kalbfleisch gave the Scots a 23-17 advantage.
- Errors on two consecutive points from the Saxons gave Covenant a 25-18 set one win.
- With Kyla Bailey serving, Covenant used an early 6-0 run to take an 8-4 lead in set two.
- The lead pushed to 14-6 with kills from Ella Bailey, Hannah Haerer, and Rachel Bartlett on three consecutive points.
- Haerer closed the set at 25-15 with another kill, as Alford couldn't muster a comeback.
- Alford battled with Covenant at the beginning of the third set as the two teams were tied at seven.
- The Scots then put their foot back on the pedal by winning eight of the next 10 points to go up 15-9.
- The final three points of the match were kills from Haerer, Carman, and K. Bailey as Covenant clinched the final set 25-16.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 1-0 all-time against Alfred.
- Carman led the Scots with a season-high 10 kills and she tallied 10 digs on defense.
- Bartlett had another strong showing with 22 assists and seven digs. She surpassed 2,500 career assists during the match and currently ranks fourth all-time in Covenant history for assists.
- Freshman Kiersten Hay posted a career-high seven digs.
UP NEXT: The Scots play a doubleheader tomorrow against Houghton at 11:00 a.m. and Buffalo State at 1:00 p.m.
