LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant hosted Birmingham-Southern, looking to remain unbeaten on its home court. The Scots dropped the first set, but that didn't deter them as they won the next three sets to get the victory.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Panthers were the stronger team early on in the first set jumping out to a 10-5 lead.
- A service error from BSC cut its lead to two points at 15-13.
- After getting to within two, the Scots couldn't edge any closer as the Panthers won set one 25-17.
- In set two, Covenant raced to a 3-1 lead with the help of kills from Rachel Bartlett and Kyla Bailey.Â
- The Scots then rode an impressive 11-0 run on Bailey's service rotation to take a 16-3 lead.Â
- Kelsey Carman had the final kill in set two, as the Scots took the set 25-13.
- An 8-0 run at the beginning of set three gave Covenant a 10-5 lead.
- The lead extended to seven at 17-10 on a service ace from Bartlett.Â
- BSC cut the lead to five, but could not get any closer as a kill from Bartlett won the set for Covenant 25-19.Â
- Similar to set two and set three, Covenant jumped out to an early lead in set four at 7-3.
- BSC got to within one point, but the Scots responded with consecutive kills from Kalbfleisch and Bailey to take a 16-13 lead.Â
- Hannah Haerer closed a 4-1 scoring run with a kill to win the set for Covenant 25-20 and the match.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 4-8 all-time against Birmingham-Southern.
- Kalbfleisch had a strong performance with 13 kills in her first game since being named CCS Player of the Week.Â
- Bartlett was impactful on both offense and defense with 28 assists and 15 digs, which was a season-high.Â
- Bailey recorded seven kills and five service aces
- Haerer was active around the net with six total blocks.Â
UP NEXT: The Scots travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for three games this weekend. The first is a matchup with Alfred University at 7 p.m. on Friday.Â
