Scots Struggle at Emory

ATLANTA, Ga. - Covenant visited Emory to try and get another nonconference win to add to its record. However, the Eagles came to play and defeated the Scots 4-0. 

Final: Covenant 0, Emory 4
Records: Covenant (2-4-4, 1-1-1 CCS), Emory (5-2-2, 0-1-0 UAA) 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Grace Reyer gave Emory the lead in the 15th minute after beating out a Covenant defender for a loose ball inside the box.
  • In the 24th minute, the Eagles doubled their lead as Avery Thompon slotted in the goal off a cross from Katie Hungness. 
  • Lila WIley had a shot on goal in the 40th minute, but her shot was saved at the top of the goal.
  • Covenant had a corner kick soon after and couldn't get a shot from the set piece.
  • Emory scored its third in the 57th minute as Kaitlyn Nimmer found the end of a through ball from Michelle Davidson. 
  • The Eagles had three corner kicks across the next 10 minutes, but Covenant's defense kept them out of goal. 
  • Lucy Sandhoff made her 13th save of the game in the 70th minute. 13 saves set a new season-high for Sandhoff. 
  • Madison Teng scored a goal minutes before the game ended for Emory that was assisted by Claire Wilkinson. 

GAME NOTES: 

  • Covenant drops to 0-6-0 all-time against Emory. 
  • Emory outshot Covenant 28-1. 
  • The Eagles had 13 corner kicks while Covenant had one.
  • Each team committed two fouls.

UP NEXT: Covenant travels to Piedmont on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for its fourth CCS game of the season.
