Covenant Defeats Huntingdon, Finishes Third in CCS

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - For its final regular season game of the year, Covenant traveled to Huntingdon. The Scots continued its strong play, winning 5-0 for its fourth consecutive win going into the postseason.

Records: Covenant (6-4-5, 5-1-2 CCS), Huntingdon (5-9-1, 3-5-0 CCS) 

  • It didn't take long for Covenant to get on the scoreboard with Lila Wiley scoring a goal in the third minute that was assisted by Emma Riggs
  • Rachel Wall added the Scots second goal in the ninth minute. 
  • The Scots went up 3-0 on a strike from Leah Marr that was assisted by Wall. 
  • Tyneisha Herring added a fourth goal of the half for the Scots in the 35th minute. 
  • Lucy Sandhoff made her third and final save of the half for Covenant in the 42nd minute. 
  • Covenant outshot Huntingdon 12-3 in the opening 45 minutes. 
  • Wiley added her second goal and Covenant's fifth and final goal with a solo effort in the 65th minute. 
  • There were no shots recorded from either team in the final 25 minutes. 

GAME NOTES: 

  • Covenant moves to 16-1-2 all-time against Huntingdon.
  • The Scots outshot the Hawks 16-5.
  • Corner kicks were in favor of Covenant, 7-5. 
  • The Scots have kept five clean sheets in a row. 
  • With the win, Covenant is No. 3 seed in the CCS Tournament. 

UP NEXT: Covenant will host the Quarterfinals of the CCS Tournament on Oct. 28. Time and opponent is still to be determined.
