Wall Scores Hat Trick in Big Win Over Wesleyan

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Looking for its third consecutive win, Covenant welcomed Wesleyan to Scotland Yard. The Scots came out firing, scoring a season-high 12 goals to win easily.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Inside the opening two minutes, Leah Marr scored Covenant's first goal after Emma Riggs played her through on goal. 
  • Covenant doubled its lead in the fourth minute with Rachel Wall's first goal of the match. 
  • Riggs scored in the eighth minute after Wall set her up for a tap-in in front of the goal. 
  • Just a few moments later, Lila Wiley netted a solo effort from outside the box to give Covenant a 4-0 advantage.
  • Abby White scored her first goal of the year in the 33rd minute with a headed goal after having her first shot bounce off the crossbar.
  • Hannah Ford gave the Scots a 6-0 lead just before halftime with a strike from outside the box that found the back of the net. 
  • Early on in the second half, Wall netted her second goal of the game that was assisted by Tyneisha Herring. 
  • Just a few minutes later, Wall completed her hat trick by racing past two defenders before putting a shot in the back of the net. 
  • Herring netted Covenant's ninth goal of the day in the top right corner after a pass from Reghan Black. 
  • Aiden Strawbridge made it 10-0 with a lovely strike from deep that was assisted by Black. 
  • Marr scored her second goal in the 58th minute with an assist from Adelle Stumbo. 
  • Stumbo scored the 12th and final goal for the Scots in the 86th minute with a left-footed shot that curled into the back of the net. Jalen Spiller was registered the assist. 

GAME NOTES: 

  • Covenant moves to 16-0-0 all-time against Wesleyan.
  • The Scots outshot the Wolves 43-4.
  • Covenant had seven corner kicks while Wesleyan had one. 
  • The Scots have kept four clean sheets in a row. 
  • 12 goals is the most Covenant has scored in a game since scoring 12 against Mary Baldwin in 2014.

UP NEXT: Covenant wraps up the regular season with a trip to Huntingdon on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
