SEASON-IN-REVIEW: Track & Field

RESULTS
RECORD BOOK

In the sixth edition of the Covenant men's and women's track and field programs, the Scots continued to climb the USA South ladder and set a myriad of program records along the way.

In what would be head coach Katie Stanford's final season with the Scots, the Covenant women placed third at the USA South Championships while the men were seventh. The Scots had a total of 13 honorees to All-USA South teams at the meet.

In the outdoor season, the women produced two top-five finishes at meets and set 11 program records. The men finished in the top-10 twice and set five program marks during the outdoor season.

Women's senior S.K. Lipperd was a three-time All-USA South honoree as she posted conference championships in the 800-meter and 1500-meter events. Lipperd broke the 800-meter program record earlier in the season and earned USTFCCCA All-Region in the distance.

Elysse Carrillo shattered her own records in the outdoor 200-meter as she set the top-four marks in the distance during the year while also achieving all five top marks in the 400-meter and was a two-time All-USA South honoree. The women also saw competitors in pole vault and high jump for the first time.

A freshman infusion fueled the men's team throughout the season. Freshmen Seth Bergeron, Noah Norman, and RJ Bascom all earned All-USA South honors and were weekly award winners during the year. Bergeron set the outdoor 1500-meter time, Bascom set the mark in the 110-meter hurdles, while Norman had top season times in two events. The trio, along with Josh Leak, was also part of the record-breaking 4x400 team at the USA South Championships.

Veterans Micaiah Allison and Ben Mellott also had strong years. Allison broke his own program record in the 3,000-meter steeple and Mellott toppled the 5,00-meter program record. Mellott also became the first male in Covenant cross country/track history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District.
