DECATUR, Ga. -- The Covenant women's basketball team picked up a road conference win with a 54-46 victory at Agnes Scott on Wednesday night.
It was the second straight win for Covenant (9-10, 5-7 USA South) and completed a season sweep of Agnes Scott (1-21, 1-14 USA South).
Ruthie Moore set a program single-game record with 24 rebounds to go with 14 points in the win. Moore broke Joanna Smith's record of 23 rebounds, set in 2018. Cosette Kirch had a game-high 18 points, while
Megan Rouse added eight and
Karis McIntosh had six points and four assists.
Covenant led 15-6 at the end of the first quarter and led throughout until the third period. Agnes Scott made a run to even the score at 36-36 at the end of the third.
The Scots had the final run, though, as Covenant held Agnes Scott scoreless over the final 3:21 of the game and pulled away for the victory.
Moore scored the first five points for the Scots in the fourth to break the tie, including a 3-pointer at the 8:47 mark that gave Covenant a 41-36 lead. Baskets from McIntosh and Rouse on the next two possessions capped the 9-0 run for the Scots to open the fourth.
The Scotties got within three later in the period, but a Moore layup followed by a clutch 3-pointer from
Elissa Moore sealed the win for the Scots.
Covenant held a 56-39 rebounding margin and hit seven 3-pointers on the night.
Agnes Scott got 11 points and 11 rebounds from Erika McLeod.
