BREVARD, N.C. – The Covenant men's basketball team earned their fifth win in a row in a dominating 83-58 road victory over Brevard.
The win brings the Scots to 9-2 in conference play and 14-6 overall.
Will Crumly led the way with 20 points and five rebounds, which brings his career total to 1,972 points. Brady Palmer had 15, while Promise Igbanu added 12 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Jesse Kinard also set a new career-high, going 3-for-4 from behind the arc with 11 points.
The Scots produced a commanding first half, as they would outscore the Tornados by 18 (41-23). Crumly recorded 16 of his 20 points during the period.
The teams remained tied at 15 at the 9:03 mark. But, Covenant would knock down six from behind-the-arc during the remaining minutes, resulting in a 26-8 scoring run. The onslaught made it 41-23 in favor of the Scots going into the half.
And they would continue the hot shooting into the second.
The Scots notched another six threes during the half. Kinard scored all 11 of his points during the period, including a 3-pointer that gave Covenant their largest lead of 28 points at the 4:23 mark.
Covenant shot nearly 52 percent from the floor (28-of-54) and knocked down 12 3-pointers (12-of-25, 48 percent) helping them gain the 25-point win (83-58).
Brevard was led by Garrett Sutherland who had 11 points, while Charles Reed and LB Boyette both added eight. The Tornados fall to 4-6 in conference play and 7-14 overall.
