Game Recap: Volleyball |

Bartlett, Baldwin Hit Career Milestones

October 22, Covenant Volleyball earned two conference wins against Piedmont and LaGrange. Covenant defeated Piedmont in four sets (25-11, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22) and LaGrange in three (25-18, 25-9, 25-11). These matches were wins number 11 and 12 consecutively for the Scots, the longest win-streak of the season.

The winning streak came to an end when Covenant Volleyball faced Maryville at home the following Tuesday, October 25. When the Scots traveled to Maryville, they defeated their opponent on their own home court three sets to one. However, the Maryville Scots came back to Lookout Mountain, hoping to even the score. That is exactly what they did, defeating Covenant on their home court in five. Both matches were close, and both of the Scots walked away from the game with one win and one loss to the other during regular season.

Though a disheartening loss at home for Covenant, the Scots still secured the number one seed heading into the CCS Tournament, where the team will not see Maryville again until the finals if both teams should win in their semifinal match.

In the tri-match against Piedmont and LaGrange, Covenant Volleyball, not only picked up two wins, but had a player hit an impressive career milestone. Senior Libero Anna Baldwin led defensively both matches, tallying 18 digs against Piedmont and 12 against LaGrange. Totaling 30 for the day, Baldwin surpassed 1000 digs.

Emma Kalbfleisch was also a top performer throughout the day, with 13 kills and four blocks against Piedmont, along with dominating LaGrange at the service line with five aces in the three-set match.

Grace Logterman was a menace at the net in the Piedmont matchup, totaling seven blocks for the Scots. Both outsides notched a double-double against the Lions; Kelsey Carman with 13 kills and 16 digs, Kyla Bailey with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Rachel Bartlett tallied a grand total of 68 assists and 27 digs on the day to earn her back-to-back conference honors as CCS Defensive Player of the Week.

In the Maryville game, Bartlett was only 37 assists away from breaking 2000 career assists. Though the Scots had hoped for the five-set thriller to end in their favor, Junior Setter Rachel Bartlett hit 41 assists in the match to achieve hitting that milestone.

Both Rachel Bartlett and Anna Baldwin were recognized and honored at the following home match on Friday, October 28 against Sewanee.

Anna Baldwin led in digs yet again against Maryville with 18. Close to follow was defensive specialist, Anissa Snyder, with 15 total digs on the night. Grace Logterman had quite the night with 14 kills and seven blocks. Kyla Bailey added in 13 kills and three blocks, but it was not enough to stop the Maryville Scots.
