Box Score 3 For the first time in 4 years, Covenant Volleyball emerged victorious over Maryville. This past Wednesday, the Scots traveled to Maryville to play in a thrilling match resulting in a 3-1 victory over the defending USA South West Division champions (26-24, 29-27, 8-25, 25-23).

The first set went back and forth between the competing Scots, Maryville starting off strong with a 7-2 lead. Covenant fought back to win the set by two, with a
Kyla Bailey ace and a
Grace Logterman kill to secure the last two points needed to overcome Maryville in set one. Â

The second set was an equally tight affair, as there were 10 ties and 6 lead changes throughout. After several long rallies between the Scots in the final points of the game, Covenant took the second set 29-27, with a kill by
Emma Kalbfleisch and a block between
Grace Logterman and Summer Johnson-Northcutt to seal the deal. Â

Maryville would come racing back to take the 3rd set, hitting 0.395% collectively to take the set 25-8. Fortunately, Covenant was able to regroup and take the fourth and final set 25-23. In a thrilling fourth set with 13 ties and seven lead changes, Covenant dug deep and found a way to win in that final stride.
Kyla Bailey's back-to-back kills and a stuff block from
Hannah Haerer led Covenant to finalize the defeat over long-time conference foe, the Maryville Scots.Â

Hannah Haerer made a huge impact down the stretch for Covenant, as she went in in the last two sets, hitting 0.538% and obtaining 7 kills.Â
Emma Kalbfleisch led the Scots with a team-high of 9 kills and three aces. Summer Johnson-Northcutt following close behind with 7 kills. Setter
Rachel Bartlett notched yet another double-double with 30 assists and 12 digs on the match.Â
Kelsey Carman led the Scots defensively adding in 13 digs. Additionally,
Anissa Snyder chipped in 12 digs.

Maryville was led by Amii Ingalls and Isabella Samson, each with 16 kills a-piece. Libero Ally Sokolow snatched a game-high of 23 digs.

In their weekend tri-match, Covenant Volleyball picked up two more wins on the season, both a clean sweep over opponents Belhaven (25-12, 25-13, 25-9) and Wesleyan (25-14, 25-13, 25-18).

Emma Kalbfleisch had quite the outing, leading the Scots in both matches in kills, 10 against Belhaven and nine against Wesleyan. An outstanding performance in the three-set defeat over the Blazers, as Kalbfleisch averaged 3.33 K/S with a hitting percentage of .643%, a rare task to achieve. Not only leading in kills, but over the course of two matches grabbed nine blocks on the day.Â

In the same match against Belhaven, right-side hitter, Summer Johnson-Northcutt, hit a .357% adding in seven kills to tie as the second leading scorer.
Kelsey Carman chipped in seven kills as well.
Anna Baldwin led defensively with nine digs.

Against Wesleyan,
Anissa Snyder tallied eight digs for the Scots, while Carman added six kills to Kalbfleisch's nine.
Ella Bailey also contributed six kills.

Tomorrow, Covenant Volleyball will travel to Berea to take on the Mountaineers on their home court for another thrilling conference game. Thus far, the Scots have been on a winning streak and hope to continue this streak heading into the tough CCS match-up. The game will be streamed here:Â
