MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Covenant women's soccer team fell on the road at Berry, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Bob Pearson Field.
The loss drops the Scots to 1-2 on the year, while it was the first victory of the year for Berry (1-2).
Three first half goals made the difference in the contest. The host Vikings got on the board in the 14th minute when Christin Marijanich received a cross from Karsen Brantley inside the box and finished past Covenant keeper
Lucy Sandhoff for the score.
In the 23rd minute, Brantley assisted again as she fed Maeve McDougal on the goal that gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead. Berry capped the first half with a goal from Morgan Lee in the 44th minute, assisted by Savannah Courtenay.
On the stat sheet, the teams were evenly-matched through the first half as Berry held a 6-5 edge in shots. However, the Vikings converted their few opportunities into scores.

Leilani Brown held strong in the second half, but the Scots could not get on the board. Brown played the final 45 minutes at the net and recorded three saves.
Kailey Burrell had five shots to lead Covenant, including three on goal but was turned away each time by Berry keeper Maggie Jones.
Tyneisha Herring,
Emma Riggs, and
Leah Marr all had one shot apiece.
Jones made six saves for Berry in the win.

Covenant will play in the Maryville Invitational this weekend. The Scots open the event on Friday against Bridgewater at 3 p.m.
