CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- A late second-half goal from Sewanee's Olivia Rhodes was enough for the visiting Tigers to defeat the Covenant women's soccer team, 1-0, in the 2021 season opener on Wednesday night at Chattanooga Christian School.
The match was moved to Chattanooga Christian due to heavy rains over the last two days from Hurricane Ida.
It was the season-opener for both Covenant (0-1) and Sewanee (1-0).
The Covenant defense stood tall for most of the night, but Rhodes was able to net the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute.Â

Lucy Sandhoff and
Leilani Brown combined to make 13 saves on the night. Sandhoff made eight in her 45 minutes of play, while Brown collected five saves. Sewanee's Abby Jones and Hanna Judycki combined for the shutout at the net for the Tigers.
