BEREA, Ky. -- The Covenant men's soccer team got the 4-1 win at Berea Saturday afternoon. The victory helps the Scots improve to 4-1 in conference play (4-2 overall).

The host Mountaineers struck first, as Brandon Atu got one past Covenant goalie, Henry Hooks, in the eighth minute. From there, the Scots' defense would only allow Berea four shots for the remainder of the contest.

Covenant evened up the score 1-1 after a goal from Knox Gibson in the 15th minute. The freshman from Lakeland, Florida, has now scored three goals in the last four games.

The score would remain 1-1 until the 52nd minute, where a goal by Austin Berry would give Covenant the 2-1 lead. The goal is the first of the season for Berry.

The Scots would gain a 3-1 lead in the 63rd minute of play, after Griffin Felton scored on a penalty kick. The fourth and final goal would come shortly after in the 69th minute from Robert Pettit, assisted by Kade Theunissen. 

Covenant recorded 21 total shots compared to Berea's five. Berry led the Scots with nine shots, while Pettit had three. Felton and Gibson were both 1-for-1. 

Henry Hooks got the start in the goalie box for the Scots and earned three saves on four shots on goal during the 90 minutes.

The Mountaineers were issued three yellow cards and totaled 14 fouls. Zach Long played the entire contest in the goalie position for Berea and recorded six saves on 10 shots on goal.

Berea drops to 0-4 in conference play.

Covenant will return home to face LaGrange on Saturday, March 20. Kick-off is scheduled for 4PM EST.
