Women's Soccer Shuts Out Berea, 4-0

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant women's soccer team earned its second win -- and second shutout -- of the season with a 4-0 victory over Berea on Tuesday night at the UTC Sports Complex in USA South action.

Covenant, which has allowed just one goal this year in three matches, goes to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in USA South play.

Originally scheduled to be played at Covenant, the game was relocated to the UTC Sports Complex due to field conditions at Scotland Yard.

Covenant kept the visiting Mountaineer goalie Perris Colemon-Harville with 17 shots in the first half and a 28-3 edge in total shots for the contest.

It remained 0-0 until the 41st minute when Megan Rasku scored her second career goal, and first of the season, assisted by Katie Davick. Rasku was fed a through ball from Davick and beat the Berea back-line to finish the shot past Colemon-Harville for the score.

Covenant took that 1-0 lead into halftime, but it didn't take long for Covenant to strike again in the second half. Kailey Burrell scored her second goal of the season just 14 seconds into the second half, assisted by Leah Marr, to make it a 2-0 score.

The goal was Burrell's second of the year.

Covenant would take another 10 shots during the second 45 minutes, which brought in two more goals late in the contest. Abby White scored her first career goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Burrell. Less than a minute later, Marr tacked on a goal to cap the win, assisted by Grace Herring

The goal was Marr's first collegiate score and added to her first career assist earlier in the match.

Lucy Sandhoff got the start in the goal for the Scots and also played the entire match collecting three saves for her second shutout. Colemon-Harville had 12 saves on the night for Berea (0-3, 0-3 USA South).

Burrell took seven shots to lead all players, while Rasku had five attempts and Marr four. Covenant held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks and 16 of its 28 shots were on target.
