LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The No. 2 West seeded Covenant volleyball team heads to Buena Vista, Va., for the USA South Tournament semifinals on Friday to take on No. 1 East seed Southern Virginia. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at Knights Arena.

TOURNAMENT NOTES:
- Friday's winner moves on to the USA South Tournament championship on Saturday at 3 p.m. against the winner of No. 1 West seed Maryville and No. 2 East seed Meredith.
- Covenant (21-8) defeated Berea, 3-1, in Tuesday's quarterfinal. Emma Kalbfleisch had 14 kills and seven blocks, while Riley Howe produced a double-double of 11 kills and 19 digs.
- The Scots won 20-plus matches this year for the fourth time in head coach Joanna Ehman's nine years as head coach.Â
- Making its ninth appearance in a USA South Tournament, Covenant is 12-6 all-time in the tournament. The Scots claimed tournament titles in 2015 and 2017.
- Of note, Covenant has never lost to an East Division opponent in the USA South Tournament (7-0).
- Friday's meeting will be the first all-time between Southern Virginia and Covenant in volleyball.
- Covenant enters the match as the top blocking team in the USA South, averaging 1.97 blocks per set. Grace Logterman is second in the conference in blocks per set (0.99) and Emma Kalbfleisch ranks eighth (0.75).
- Kablfleisch has also been an effecting attacker for the Scots all season. The junior is fifth in the USA South in hitting percentage (.321) while leading the team with 2.55 kills per set.
- Southern Virginia (26-4), in its first year in the USA South, captured the East Division title after going 16-2 in conference play. The Knights enter the match on an eight-match win streak and are a perfect 8-0 inside Knights Arena.
- SVU's Courtney Pinkston leads the USA South in kills per set (3.79) and total kills (409) this season. The Knights are first in the league in service aces (2.75 per set) and third in blocking (1.81 per set).
