Scots Dominate Toccoa Falls, 75-57

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Ruthie Moore tallied 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists on Thursday night to help her team to a 75-57 victory over the visiting Screaming Eagles.

The total ties the junior's career-high (previously vs Piedmont on Jan. 25, 2020), as she scored 18 of the 22 in the first half.

Three other Scots joined Moore in double figures. Freshman Abby Witt set a new career-high with 12 points, while Cosette Kirsch added 11. Karis McIntosh went 2-for-3 from behind-the-arc, scoring 10.

Covenant started off the game with a 7-0 run, with all seven points coming from Moore. Moore knocked down a 3-pointer and hit back-to-back layups during the run. Moore would also score five of the Scots last seven of the first quarter, giving them a 20-11 lead heading into the second.

The Scots would keep their feet on the gas in the second quarter, ultimately taking a lead of 21 heading into the second half (42-21).

At first, Covenant would struggle to score in the third, as their first basket did not come until the 6:41 mark when a three from Kirsch ended the drought, making it 45-28. The Scots then went on a 10-4 run, where McIntosh knocked down her two 3-pointers of the contest (55-32).

Entering the fourth down by 23 (61-38), Toccoa Falls would make a solid effort, recording 19 points over the course of the period. But, ultimately, it was not enough as the Scots would take their largest lead of the game (24) thanks to a Witt layup at the 6:52 mark and run away with the 75-57 victory.

Toccoa Falls was led by Jaliyah Howard with 14 points. Cynthia Engler recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Scots improve to 3-1, while the Screaming Eagles fall to 4-4.
