CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Though the Covenant men's soccer team dominated the offensive attack the entire match, neither team was able to get one in the net, resulting in a 0-0 tie with conference foe Maryville.
Tonight's USA South matchup was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was moved to Chattanooga Christian School due to wet field conditions at Scotland Yard.
The home Scots tallied a remarkable 30 total shots, 10 of which were on goal. Covenant's defense held Maryville to just eight shots with four being on goal.
The ball seemed to always be in play for Covenant, as they were able to maintain offensive position for the majority of the game. While many of the shots were extremely close, the host Scots couldn't seem to get one in the net.
At the end of an exciting, action packed second half, Parker Owen had an amazing shot with one second left in regulation that seemed to be a game winner. But it tipped slightly off the crossbar, sending the game into its first overtime.
Covenant kept on the attack during both overtime periods, outshooting the visiting Scots six to one. But ultimately being unable to score sealed the 0-0 draw.
The host Scots were led by Mercer Stout, who tallied 10 shots and four shots on goal. Austin Berry added five shots, while Owen had six.
Henry Hooks played the entirety of the match in the goal for Covenant, earning four saves.
Davis Clothier led Maryville with three shots, while Ndubueze Henry had two shots, both of which were on goal. Mykal Manfred got the start in the goal for the visiting Scots and tallied 10 saves on the match.
Covenant now sits at 5-3-3 overall (0-0-2 USAS), while Maryville is 9-2-1 (2-0-1 USAS).
