BEREA, Ky. -- The Covenant women's soccer team earned its fourth shutout victory in a row with its 3-0 bout of Berea Tuesday afternoon.
The Scots remain undefeated in conference play (3-0) and improve to 7-4-1 overall.
Covenant tallied a whopping 22 shots, 15 of which were on goal, while the Mountaineers were only allowed five shots for the entire match.
The Scots saved most of the action for the second half, after ending the first half tied 0-0 with the Mountaineers. But, they didn't wait long to attack, as their first score would come thanks to Aiden Strawbridge in the 48th minute, making it 1-0 in favor of Covenant.
From there, Kailey Burrell would do what she does best and score the next two Covenant goals.
Her first came soon after Strawbridge's in the 49th minute and her second came in the 60th. Both scores were assisted by Mae Pierce.
The goals bring Burrell's season tally to 12, which is a new career-high, and mark her ninth career multi-goal game. They also earn her a spot atop the USA South in goals to date.
The Scots' defense only allowed one Berea shot on goal during the second period, which was saved by Lucy Sandhoff. Sandhoff finished the match with two saves.
Burrell and Pierce both tallied four shots apiece. Rachel Wall added five shots, all of which were on goal.
The Mountaineers were led by Alyssa Tittsworth and Bailee Vanover, who both had two shots. Kyla Simmons got the start in the goal for Berea and recorded 12 saves.
Berea falls to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in the USA South.
