LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant volleyball team extended its win streak to six in comeback fashion as the Scots rallied from a set down to defeat Berea, 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 27-25), in a USA South match on Tuesday night inside Barnes PE Center.
It is the longest winning streak for Covenant (11-6, 5-1 USA South) since 2018.
Kyla Bailey had 12 kills, while
Rachel Bartlett had a double-double of 29 assists and 11 digs.
Emma Kalbfleisch totaled 11 kills, two aces, and three blocks with fellow middle
Grace Logterman adding eight kills and two blocks.
Anna Baldwin had a match-high 27 digs with Anna Vereen chipping in 10 digs.
Covenant struggled out of the gate as Berea (11-9, 4-2 USA South) had 14 kills in the opening set to take a 1-0 match lead.
Down 5-1 early in the second, Covenant responded to the adversity as the Scots knotted the score at 6-6 with an ace from
Anna Baldwin. Berea regained the lead late in the set and had a 24-23 edge before two straight kills from Kalbfleisch and a kill from
Riley Howe gave Covenant a 26-24 set win.
Covenant had its most efficient set in the third as the Scots hit .293 with 15 kills and trailed just once before taking a 25-17 victory and a 2-1 lead.
Berea once again surged ahead early in the fourth as the visiting Mountaineers took an 8-2 lead. A 7-1 scoring run by the Scots, capped by another Kalbfleisch kill, to tie the score at 14-14. The Scots had two match points, but Berea fended those off to even the score at 24-24.
Tied at 25 apiece, Kalbfleisch gave the Scots the lead for good with a kill from Kalbfleisch and an ensuing Berea error gave the Scots the four-set win.
Deanna De La Torre had 12 kills to lead Berea, while Idymel Ayala Rivera totaled 31 assists and 12 digs.

Covenant hosts a USA South tri-match on Saturday for Homecoming. The Scots face Brevard at 1 p.m. before taking on Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
