Terry's Late Goal Lifts Women's Soccer over Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- After a goal in the final minutes of the match, the Covenant women's soccer team took the lead to defeat Sewanee 1-0 at Puett Field on Tuesday night.

The Lady Scots improve to 2-1, while the Lady Tigers drop to 1-3-1. This marks Covenant's first win over Sewanee since 2012.

Covenant's one and only goal came in the 87th minute from senior Ruth Terry, her second of the season and 13th of her career.

Covenant would make that score stand over the final minutes as Sewanee looked to tie the score. Sewanee's Mary Frank took a shot on goal in the 89th minute, but Covenant keeper Rachel Lemay made the save to preserve the victory.

The Lady Scots had three shots on goal, all of which were taken by Terry. Sewanee took six shots on goal, but Lemay saved all six. Lemay now has 15 saves through three games. Tigers keeper Savannah Williams made two saves in the first half, but Olivia Glascoe, who came in as goalie for the second half, allowed one goal with no saves.

After taking twice as many shots as Agnes Scott in Saturday loss, Covenant was outshot 12-5 on Tuesday but still came out on top. Terry took four shots, while Frank led Sewanee with four attempts.
