LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Seven different players scored for the Covenant women's soccer team to lead the Lady Scots to a 7-0 victory over Mary Baldwin in the USA South opener Friday afternoon at Scotland Yard.
Covenant wins its second in a row and moves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action. Mary Baldwin goes to 3-3 and 0-1 inside USA South play.
The host Lady Scots dominated time of possession from the start and turned that into several chances throughout the contest. Covenant outshot the visiting Fighting Squirrels 32-0, with 22 of those coming on target.
Allie Vannoy got the scoring going in the eighth minute of play as she received a pass from Anna Porch and slipped by the defense to find the back of the net. The goal was Vannoy's first collegiate score. In the 22nd minute, Christy Barton made it 2-0 with her first goal of the season, assisted by Gabby Powell.
Later in the half, Rachel Buys collected her first career goal. After an offsides call on Mary Baldwin, Covenant keeper Rachel Lemay booted the free kick into the attacking side and Buys outran the Squirrels defense before slipping her shot past keeper Brittany Tenn. Summer Bader gave Covenant a 4-0 lead with her goal in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Ruth Terry scored her team-leading third goal of the year as she cleaned up a shot from just inside the 18-yard box. Anna Porch got her second goal of the season in the 62nd minute as she scored from close range after getting a pass from Grace Bartelt. Rebekah Gravitt concluded the scoring in the 90th minute as she deflected in a corner kick from Bader.
Lemay and Jordan Brett combined for the shutout, Covenant's second straight. Tenn made 13 saves for Mary Baldwin.

Covenant will be back in action on Saturday against Meredith in USA South play at Scotland Yard. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
