BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Lucy Johnson turned in a heroic effort to keep the Covenant women's soccer team in the game and salvage a 0-0 draw in a non-conference match against Birmingham Southern on Tuesday night.

After the match, Covenant's record sits at 4-4-1, while Birmingham Southern's record is now 6-1-1

Johnson stopped 13 shots on the night, a new career-high for her and the most saves by a Lady Scots goalkeeper since 2011. It was also her third straight shutout of the year.

The Panthers controlled the match from the outset, consistently applying pressure on Covenant's defense. Birmingham Southern generated 28 shots to Covenant's four, but could not break through against Johnson.

Bethany Logan, Anne Charlotte Strawbridge, and Gabby Powell had the Lady Scots' only shots on goal. Birmingham Southern keeper Katy Williams made three saves for the Panthers to keep Covenant off the board.

Johnson's previous career-high was 11 saves, set last year. Coincidentally, it also came against Birmingham Southern, though that match ended in a 2-0 loss for the Lady Scots back in September of 2013.

The Lady Scots will be back in action this Friday, when they travel to play Mary Baldwin at 3 p.m. in Staunton, Va., in USA South action.
