MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- In their inaugural match of the season, the Covenant women's soccer team was blanked by Rhodes 2-0 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Covenant (0-1) struggled to get shots on goal as Rhodes (1-0) controlled the match from the outset.

The Lady Scots' best scoring chance came in the 27th minute when Christy Barton had a shot on goal that was turned aside by Lynx goalkeeper Chandler Kuhlman. Covenant would not record another shot on target the rest of the match. Barely two minutes later, Rhodes' Hannah Selner put one past Covenant keeper Lucy Johnson into the back right corner to put Rhodes ahead for good in the 29th minute.

Rhodes carried their 1-0 lead into the intermission, having outshot Covenant 6-1 in the opening period.

The score would stay the same until the 68th minute, when Nicolette Glidden knocked one home into the left corner to make it 2-0 and seal the win for the Lynx.

Johnson went all 90 minutes at the net for the Lady Scots and made four saves. Rhodes' Kuhlman got the shutout, making the save on Covenant's only shot on goal.

Rhodes outshot Covenant 13-4 overall, including a 6-1 margin in shots on goal.

Covenant will have a quick turnaround, as they try to get back on track at 1 p.m. Saturday against Texas-Dallas in Memphis.
