FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.-- The Covenant women's soccer team dropped their second straight game in falling to Methodist 3-1 on Friday afternoon in USA South action.
With the loss, the Lady Scots drop to 6-8-1 overall and 4-3 in the USA South. It was Methodist's third straight win and puts them ahead of Covenant in the conference standings with a record of 4-1-1 in league play. Overall, the Monarchs have a record of 5-5-1.
After a 0-0 first half, Methodist broke through with three goals in the next 35 minutes to pull ahead of the Lady Scots. Deycasha Miller scored two of the goals for Methodist, sandwiched around a score by Cassie Pointdexter. Christy Barton provided the offense for Covenant when she scored in the 84th minute of the match.
Andrea Hunt provided the only other shot on goal as the Lady Scots were outshot 7-2 in that category and 16-6 overall.
Covenant keeper Lucy Johnson played the entire match, stopping four shots. Taylor Ross was credited with her fourth win after stopping one shot for the Monarchs.
The Lady Scots will have a chance to bounce back when they travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. to take on North Carolina Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m.
