GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Covenant men's soccer team opened up USA South conference play on Friday afternoon at Greensboro. The host Pride used two second half goals to come away with a 2-0 victory.
Covenant drops to 4-2-2 on the year and 0-1 in conference matches. Greensboro improves to 3-2-2 and 1-0 in league play.
Greensboro got goals from Shaun Watt in the 52nd minute to go ahead 1-0. In the 84th minute, the Pride added to their lead with a score from Craig Gage to secure the victory.
Covenant was outshot 20-9 for the match. Scots keeper Shuler Polk was valiant in defeat as he made eight saves.
Garrison Dale took three of Covenant's nine shots in the contest.
Covenant will have to bounce quickly as they will travel to southern Virginia on Saturday to take on Ferrum at 7 p.m.
