Baseball Completes Series Sweep of Hiwassee

MADISONVILLE, Tenn. -- After Friday's slugfest, the Scots (14-3) took to the road on Saturday and came away with two more wins against Hiwassee (8-12). The Scots are off to their best start in school history since the first varsity season in 2007.

Covenant took game one 9-1, before winning game two 11-5.

In game one, Micah Mabe (5-0) pitched a seven inning complete game yielding only three hits and one run while retiring 20 of 25 batters. Mabe also had eight strikeouts. By going the distance, Mabe gave the bullpen a much needed break after so many arms were used on Friday.

Designated Hitter Braeden Lane hit his third home run in just two days and had seven RBIs on the day. He went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and one run scored in the Scots 9-1 win.

In game two of the doubleheader, Lane hit a grand slam home run to put the Scots up 4-3 in the second inning. Lane finished the game with five RBIs and one run scored on three hits.

Perry Rigby went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored in Covenant's 11-5 win in game two.

Garrett KristonGarrett Kriston (3-0) went five innings giving up four runs, two earned, with three walks and three strikeouts. Alec Mitchell relieved Kriston and pitched two innings giving up one run and with no walks and three strikeouts.

The Scots finished the day outscoring Hiwassee 20-6 with 19 hits.

Covenant will be back on the road March 19 against Berry. The first pitch is set for 6:00 PM.
