ATLANTA, Ga. -- Sam Bowman continued his solid play with 16 points and eight rebounds, but the Covenant men's basketball team could not sustain a second half rally as Emory claimed a 75-50 win over the Scots on Tuesday night.

Covenant drops to 13-11 on the season, while Emory improves to 18-6 as the Eagles look toward a possible NCAA tournament berth.

A sluggish first half for Covenant saw the Scots trailing 34-23 at halftime. But in the second half, Covenant regrouped and was able to shrink its deficit to just three points at 36-33 after a 10-2 scoring run that was capped by a pair of free-throws from Colton McGriff.

Emory brought on more defensive pressure and started to pull away from Covenant. The Eagles rattled off a 21-5 scoring spurt that gave them a 57-38 advantage with 6:50 remaining in the game. Covenant would get no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Bowman finished 7-of-11 from the floor in scoring his 16 points. McGriff added 10 points and three rebounds. Dante Moss and Nate Frierson each had two assists to lead Covenant, while Micah Turner had a team-high four steals.

Jake Davis led Emory with 20 points and Alex Greven contributed 19 points. Michael Friedberg tallied 12 points and four blocks, while Michael Florin recorded three assists for Emory.

As a team, Covenant shot 38 percent (19-50) from the field and committed 23 turnovers that produced 23 points for Emory. The Eagles made 52.1 percent (25-48) of their shots, but also turned the ball over 22 times.

Covenant plays its final regular season game on Thursday afternoon at Huntingdon. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. EST in Montgomery, Ala. The Scots and Hawks just played last Saturday with Covenant taking a 56-52 win.
