DANVILLE, Ky. -- Garrison Dale scored Covenant's first goal of the season in the 69th minute of action, but it was not enough on this night as Centre College defeated the Scots 3-1 as part of the 23rd Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic hosted by Centre College.
Covenant (0-3) will take on Spalding University on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. to wrap-up the weekend slate of matches.
Cameron Miller put Centre (2-1) on top in the first half with a score in the 26th minute, assisted by Robbie Tarver. The Colonels would go ahead 2-0 before halftime after a goal from Zac Brown in the 36th minute.
Miller added a second goal for himself in the 59th minute, this time assisted by Ryan Garvey, to make it 3-0.
The Scots finally got on the board with Dale's score in the 69th minute that cut their deficit to 3-1. Hunter Harrison had a chance to cut into the deficit even more just moments after Dale's score, but Centre keeper Zach Sosnovich came up with the save.
Covenant took 12 shots total as David Taaffe led the way with three shots, two of which were on goal. The Scots were outshot 13-4 in the first half, but were at 8-8 in the second 45 minutes. Keeper Shuler Polk made four saves on seven chances. Centre keeper Sosnovich recorded three saves.
