MACON, Ga. -- Another day, another win for the Covenant volleyball program. Less than 24 hours after knocking off Agnes Scott 3-0, the Lady Scots took a victory on the road over GSAC foe Wesleyan College 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-13) in Macon on Wednesday night.
Chelsea Van Dyk led the offensive attack for Covenant with 14 kills and two block assists. Newly-named GSAC Player of the Week, Jessica Chittenden contributed seven kills, while Cora Schroeder chipped in with six. As a team, Covenant had 39 kills with a kill percentage of .366 for the match.
Covenant (12-3, 5-0 GSAC) received 27 assists from Stephanie Kirkpatrick. Defensively, Estes Carlson accumulated 13 digs.
The first set was back and forth until Covenant seized control with 7-2 scoring spurt after it was tied 11-11. The Lady Scots would take their largest lead of the set at 23-15 after a kill from Hannah Rogers.
The second set saw Covenant race out to an early advantage and never look back as the Lady Scots took a 2-0 lead in the match. The third set was again tight like set one, but Covenant pulled away from Wesleyan midway through to claim the win.
Wesleyan (0-12, 0-4 GSAC) got 12 kills from McKenzie Bragg and 17 assists from Hannah Finch in a losing effort.
Covenant will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday to face both Salem College and William Peace University. The first match is set for 12:00 p.m. with the second one starting at 2:00 p.m.
