LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Second half scores from Tyler Morrison and Matt Hudnut were enough to propel the Covenant Scots to a 2-0 win over the visting Emory & Henry Wasps on Wednesday night at Scotland Yard.
After a scoreless first half, Scots forward Morrison found an opening from a cross from Garrison Dale in the 52nd minute and placed the ball into the back of the net to give Covenant a 1-0 lead. The score for Morrison was his second of the season.
In the 58th minute, Hudnut put another goal up for the Scots after dribbling past the Wasps' defense and scoring off the far post, his first of the year, to make it 2-0.
Covenant (2-5) managed to pull of 20 shots with 12 coming on goal. Morrison had four shots while Dale and Chris Pifer each had three shots. Hudnut and David Taaffe also pulled off two shots each. The visiting Wasps had six shots the entire match with three on goal.
Scots goalkeeper Shuler Polk saved the three shots on goal from the Wasps. Emory & Henry (2-6-1) goalkeeper Justin Spencer saved 10 of the 12 shots on goal. James Ballamy and Will Bodfish combined to take the Wasps' three shots on goal.
The Scots are at home for a match against Greenville (Ill.) College on September 21 at 7 p.m.
