Game One
The Hawks got out to a large lead in the first inning when Jordan Freeman stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and promptly unloaded them with a grand slam homer to left field. Huntingdon added three more runs in the third inning with the key hit coming off the bat of Cameron Lewis. Lewis knocked home a pair of runs with a single to right-center that made it 6-0. Lewis later scored to give the home team a 7-0 lead.
Covenant got on the board in the fourth inning. Witt singled to leadoff the frame and scored on a throwing error by the Huntingdon third baseman. The Scots added two more runs in the sixth as Witt scored on another error and Gillespie crossed the plate on Kurt Wiles' fielder's choice.
Paul Phillips connected on his first home run of the season in the seventh inning. The two-out, two-run blast to right field brought home Ben Chambers and cut the Covenant deficit to 13-5.
Huntingdon, though, was too much offensively. The Hawks scored four runs in the fifth inning, two more in the sixth, and an additional four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Huntingdon starting pitcher Grant Lowman (2-1) was awarded the win after pitching six innings, surrendering no earned runs, and striking out two. Micah Mabe (1-3) gets the loss for the Scots.
